Long-distance move from Los Angeles, CA to Las Vegas, NV

Broken furniture, missing pieces, now being ignored by the company

I hired this company to help me move to a new state, and received service so horrible I didn’t even know this was possible. I’ve moved over 10 times in my life and have never been in such a shockingly disappointing and terrible situation. I have so many complaints, but I’ll only share my top grievances:

First, multiple pieces of furniture were broken. The leg from one of my desks is completely snapped off. Two pieces of my bed frame were broken. None of my floor lamps made it back in once piece. My cabinet pieces look like somebody dropped them off a 2 story building.

Second, out of the 10 large pieces of furniture that were disassembled, only one of them was reassembled after being delivered. Everything else was left on my floor, in pieces. My tables, couch, cabinets, floor lamps, are all still in pieces. I specifically paid for disassembly and assembly services, yet they would not assemble my furniture. They said they could not do so, and asked me to call the company which was closed on a Saturday. It is now Wednesday and they won’t return our calls. I am shocked they were able to leave me with disassembled furniture, when that’s specifically written into the contract of what I paid for.

Third, pieces of furniture are straight up missing. One lamp is missing pieces. A bed frame was missing 2 pieces (which I later found broken in the trash and on the floor). One desk is missing pieces required to put it back together.

Fifth, many of our items were filthy and covered in a layer of black/brown dirt. I have no idea what it is but it’s clear our items were not properly wrapped.

Sixth, two of our movers did not wear masks. My boyfriend and I visit his parents often (who are much older) and this forced us to quarantine before being able to see them again.

Seventh, I wish I could make this up, but I’m not joking - one of the movers had diarrhea at my apartment and did not wipe the toilet seat.

Here are just a few photos so you can see for yourself:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1IJLRifScP6gRbVA2ESNR5ot3fLgWIgGQ?usp=sharing

Finally, there were hiccups in scheduling (one person told us our items would come on one date, another person told us another date) and customer service was poor, but none of that compares to the sheer amount of damage, missing items, and lack of assembly.

I spoke to someone on the phone who condescendingly asked me if I was “sure” that items were missing, or if I “forgot” that the driver gave me the missing items. I told them I was 100% sure. We argued until I let them know that I have a home security camera with footage I’m happy to send over if they don’t want to believe my word.

Moving is already a stressful time, and I’m disappointed that we ended up being tricked by a company that seemed legitimate.

My calls and emails are now being ignored. I’ve begun filing an insurance claim but it’s clearly set up to be difficult - there are a lot of hoops you have to jump through to prove the damages you are claiming, making it incredibly difficult to verify your claim. You must have receipts for every single item purchased, as well as 2 separate contractors provide an estimate to verify your claims.

Please take this as a warning - do not hire this company even if they seem cheaper in the beginning. They quoted me a $2,100 move and it ended up being over $4000 - this is not necessarily their “fault” if I had more items than they initially expected, but I want to throw that in, you may be receiving a much lower estimate that you’ll end up getting paid - so don’t let a cheaper price be your determining factor. Take it from me, a girl who is still sitting at home with no furniture assembled, a broken bed frame, missing furniture pieces, and no returned phone calls.

If this happened to you - please file a BBB complaint and DOT complaint. Hopeful that will prevent others from having the same experience.

Long-distance move from Florida to Maryland

Move from FL to MD.

Wonderful experience. Cross country relocation was recommended by a picky friend. The were right on time, extremely courteous, neat and clean. I would use them again and I give my highest recommendation. Jose, Mike and Franklin new exactly what whey were doing and since I have small children it was hard for me to focus on the move. I just wanted to say thanks! keep the good work, Natasha Kingston MD.

Long-distance move from Reno, NV to Tacoma, WA

TERRIBLE

Cross country movers is really lacking in customer service and accuracy. I had a phone quote with everything on my inventory. At the end I had to remove items due to high cost after initial bid. Our end number was twice the initial cost. You don’t have much of a choice since they are in your home wrapping up furniture. When you get the final number you’ve sold your home and you need to vacate, and you, again, have NO choice, you’ve paid a deposit and at this point NOT refundable.

Very unhappy with this company.

Under quoting and customer care was horrendous at a colossal cost. They pretend to care until you are at their mercy. Every time I contacted them it was all about the 21 days and “it’s in your contract” plus “ it will be a few more days.” They were actually 3 days short of the contracted 21 days when EVERy time I spoke to anyone, before the move it was 7-10 days for delivery. Dates for delivery were promised by driver after “speaking to the owner” and NOT met. Regardless of what ANY employee says, don’t trust ANYTHING they say. Everything they promise is pie in the sky. I placed many, many phone calls. I was promised call backs, it didn’t happen. The no care attitude when you finally spoke to anyone was surprising and unbelievably rude.

Now, to address the damage to my furniture. A cedar hope chest that I was going to will to my granddaughter is completely ruined, no way to get it repaired. Brand new kitchen wood table broken in corner, family room end table scratched. Wood filing cabinet scratched, both bedroom end tables scratched and broken. Oh, and a missing very expensive fabric dinning chair. Then there is my husbands Vespa .

I’ll be using every resource I can to report this unscrupulous company. I’m also contacting the Better Business Bureau in their state of California. The federal trade commission as well.

I’ve never been so dejected with a company as I am with this one.

Long-distance move from Tracy, CA to Stone Mountain, GA

Horrible

Not professional or on time.

I was given a two day window for them to start the pick up of my house. This was a guaranteed pick up, as that is what the company told me. They did not pick up on those dates, I missed two days of work waiting on them to call me back. Not only were they late for the pick up, I was sexually harassed by one of their employees. While ALL the other employees were in another part of the house, he came into the room I was in alone, BTW everything that needed to be moved at this point needed at least two people, with his hand down him pants advancing towards me making sexual comments and making me terrified, this company didn't do anything and told me that he needed to finish the job because they couldn't ask him to leave. Me at this point was so terrified that I didn't know what to do except have my teenage son stay with me the rest of the time they were there.

They then said that it was going to cost triple the amount I was quoted even after going through all inventory with them before they arrived.

After they were done, I was told that my items would be on a truck for transport no later than that Wednesday, this was also not true as they didn't put it on a truck for transport for over a week.

My items were not delivered until today, most of my boxes were damaged or opened.

The driver said oh well I can not get in your driveway and that is going to cost extra. they also only had a three man crew, two of which were minors, I know this because I asked them how old they were and where they go to school in the fall.

My own children helped unload the truck to give these kids a break while the driver sat in his truck trying to get me to pay even more.

I was told when I booked the move that they would dismantle everything and then reassemble when it arrived. NOTHING was reassembled.

When I tried to call the main office I get nothing but an answering service now and my emails and voice mails go completely unanswered. I guess it's time to get a LAWYER. Maybe then someone will respond to emails and calls..

Long-distance move from Nevada to North Carolina

Long-distance move from Lake Tahoe, NV to Blowing Rock, NC

BEWARE OF HIRING CROSS COUNTRY RELOCATION

This company has been a nightmare to deal with!! No regard for our property or the additional stress created in an already stressful situation.

It was a complete bait and switch from the beginning. We were quoted $8200 by Peter, the company’s sales representative with whom we had been dealing, based on a facetime/room-by- room video of items being moved from Lake Tahoe, NV to Blowing Rock, NC.in December of 2021.

Once items were loaded onto the truck at our residence, we traveled to our storage unit nearby to finish loading items from the unit.

After everything was loaded, the crew chief informed us of a revised total cost of $18,000. That is over 2.2 times the original quote. We protested, and after talking to his boss over the phone, the crew leader offered to lower the cost to $16,000. We felt like we had no choice since our items were already on the truck. We had sold our home and had to be out of the house THAT day!!

The crew leader then filled in the blanks on the contract and told my very upset husband where to sign without explaining any of the terms of the contract. All this was done on the hood of his truck in a freezing windstorm.

They took all 21 days allowed to deliver our belongings to NC.. During this time, our items were transferred to storage facilities. When they arrived in NC to unload everything it was obvious that there was extensive damage (crushed boxes and damaged or broken furniture, etc.).

The subcontracted movers indicated that they had loaded our items from a storage facility in Charlotte, NC. As we looked in the back of the truck it appeared that the boxes had literally been thrown into the truck as they were not stacked or secured. We have pictures.

We have since filed a claim with the company for 68 broken or damaged items for which we have pictures. In addition, we are missing a full set of rare antique china. Since then, pieces of our rare antique china set have been located in a local replacement shop. We have filed a police report and are waiting on the outcome of their investigation.

Long-distance move from Maryland to Virginia

Cross country relocation.

I would like to recommend cross country relocation for any of you who are looking to move your belongings. I heard about them from a family friend. Although I was a bit skeptical because of my experiences with moving companies, they really exceeded all my expectations. They did the job professionally. They came on time and offered an affordable price. They packed everything and moved it to my new home without even a scratch. I'm very satisfied and if I'll ever need to move again I know I will only call them.

Long-distance move from Menifee, CA to Buckeye, AZ

Worst moving company, ever

DO NOT use this company. Was quoted around $2800 for around 700 cuft. Come moving day they loaded my stuff and then charged me $5800 saying I was over 1000 cuft more than the quote. I knew I would be charged a little more because Some bixes were added, but at most was 300 cuft not over 1000. When called about it their response is we'll bring it back to you. Very beligerent and unprofessional. When the truck finally arrived for delivery I was out of town on emergency snd my daughter was there for delivery. Most if it was to be left in garage. However, they were supposed to put dining room table together. They could not find the bolts for table and told my daughter they had left them with me. That was not true. The garage looks like they jusy threw everything off truck into garage. Big boxes on top of small boxes, heavy boxes on top of lighter boxes. Haven't finished checking everything but the headboard has a horrible crease across the learher that wasn't there before and the elrctric fireplace has a corner destroyed by the move. Got no satisfaction from company and was actually hung up on once when talking with them. I served in the Navy for 20 years and have been moved many times and this was by far the worst moving company I have ever dealt with. Would not recommend them to my worst enemy.

Long-distance move from California to Kansas

RIP OFF

Hired these movers, received a written quote for approx. $4,000. Movers showed up, loaded the truck, headed to Kanasas from California. My quote included a refrigerator, which I decided to leave behind. According to them my stuff needed to be packed differently. This meant I had MAYBE 10 extra boxes than what was on the quote. That was the only difference. REMOVE refridgerator, add 10 boxes. Once everything was loaded they announced my bill was now over $8,000!!! DOUBLE..... RIP OFF. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. They picked up my stuff on December 9, 2020 and today is January 3, 2021, my stuff is still not here. The owner Peter refuses to take my calls or call me back....SCAM
